NEW EXHIBIT OF PAINTINGS BY LOCAL ARTIST ROBERT LENZ OPENS JULY 16TH AT MORRISON GALLERY IN KENT

KENT, CT –  “In the Hood,” an exhibit of recent landscape paintings by Kent artist Robert Lenz opens July 16 at Morrison Gallery. Mr. Lenz and gallery owner William Morrison will host a reception from 5-7 pm to mark the opening of the exhibit, which runs through August 14.

“This is a collection of landscapes of Litchfield County that I’ve been painting over the past several years,” Mr. Lenz says of the exhibit. “We decided to call it ‘In the Hood’ when we realized that all of the paintings were of scenes I’ve admired within 10 or 15 miles of my studio in South Kent.”

While awaiting construction of a new gallery in Kent, Morrison Gallery is currently housed in a temporary space at 25 North Main Street. “It’s perfect for these particular landscapes, which are mostly 18”x20” and 14”x16”,” Mr. Lenz says. “I think many people in Kent and surrounding areas will recognize the scenes. For example one of them depicts the dramatic swirl of water at Bull’s Bridge after a recent storm and another shows a wonderful barn on Kent Hollow Road near the end of the day when the light was particularly dramatic.”

Mr. Lenz, who has had four exhibitions at Morrison Gallery between 2003 and 2013, is a retired advertising agency executive and currently teaches landscape painting through the Washington Art Association. View more of Lenz's work here.
