Christian Quintin French, b. 1957

" I wish for my art to be seen as one would read poetry, and wander into its imagery.  I do not have a message but feel compelled to convey the feelings flowing through me as I attempt to create something beautiful.  My work escapes time and space while expressing the spirit that I share with a river or a tree."

Christian was born in the town of Saint Brieuc, on the Northern coast of Brittany, France. He studied at the Beaux Arts Academy in Paris before moving to San Francisco in 1981.  Quintin create oils and pastel paintings and pen and ink and graphite drawings, alternating between mediums as in music, each piece calling for its own instrument.  His art reflects his consciousness, what he see or feels as well as his love of nature in romantic landscapes where trees like human figures sway among swirling skies.  Christian has been exhibited in many solo and international group shows.  He was represented by the famed Vorpal Gallery in San Francisco and New York, which gave its first U.S. show to M.C. Escher.  He was also the recipient of numerous public commissions and was represented by the Lorin Gallery in Los Angeles and Paris.
