“My work is basically 60 years of insanity being constantly fed into my gray matter. If I could take my brain out and lay it on a canvas it would look like these paintings… a chaotic mix of art, music, film, television and junk culture.”
- Rob Zombie
Born in 1965 in Haverhill, MA, Rob Zombie began his art training by watching a local television show called The Nature World of Captain Bob, a Saturday morning art instruction program hosted by Bob Cottle. From there on, the art of Marvel Comics, Basil Gogos and Frank Frazetta took over until Zombie landed a scholarship to Parsons school of design. After a quick one-and-a-half-year run at Parsons, Zombie left to pursue music and movies, putting down his brushes for the next 20 years: “I loved painting, but school made me hate it. So I stopped, but in the past 10 years I rediscovered my love of it once again,” states Zombie.
As a rock icon and filmmaker with a unique vision, Rob Zombie has continuously challenged audiences as he stretches the boundaries of both music and film. He has sold more than fifteen million albums worldwide, and is the only artist to experience unprecedented success in both music and film as the writer/director of nine feature films including HOUSE OF 1000 CORPES, THE DEVIL’s REJECTS, THE MUNSTERS and the number one smash HALLOWEEN.
