Norman Mooney is a New York-based artist working nationally and internationally on sculpture, interior and exterior installations, drawings and works on paper.
Norman Mooney was born in Dublin Ireland in 1971. He studied at the Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork and completed his BFA at the National College of Art in Dublin, 1992.
Mooney creates works that are at once physical and metaphysical. By studying the structures, patterns and synchronicities found in both the micro and macro universes, Norman hopes to understand something of our place in this world. The biodynamic systems found in nature and explored through the mediums of maths and science are the building blocks of Norman’s work. Norman’s process is intuitive rather than emphatic, following a visual theory of quantum connectivity. Materiality, patterns, rhythms, scale and color are all key concerns within Norman’s practice. His work explores how the synergy of these elements orientates our experience, defines our physical sense of space and sets our internal equilibrium.
